We are looking for an experienced and motivated Head Chef to lead our kitchen team at a managed pub in Skipton. The Role

As Head Chef, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring exceptional food quality, presentation, and consistency. You will manage and develop your team, maintain all health and safety and food hygiene standards, and deliver profitability through effective cost control and menu management.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, motivate, and develop the kitchen team to achieve the highest standards.

Oversee all food production and ensure dishes are delivered to specification.

Manage stock control, ordering, and kitchen budgets.

Maintain compliance with all food safety, health and safety, and hygiene regulations.

Work with the management team to implement menus and drive food sales.

Support staff training, development, and progression within the business.

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a busy kitchen environment.

Strong leadership and people management skills.

Excellent knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations.

Financial awareness with experience managing costs and GP%.

A hands-on, proactive approach and passion for high-quality food.

Must be commutable to the Skipton area with own transport (due to location) this is a live out role

People Management

• Leading the kitchen brigade, with a ‘hands-on’ approach, including part-time, casual and seasonal staff, and managing staffing levels to meet labour percentage targets 

• Organising staff rota’s, and ensuring that the business has adequate staff cover at all times. 

• Working closely with the GM on kitchen vacancies, conducting interviews and onboarding new kitchen team members 

• Ensuring that the kitchen team complete their Induction and Compliance training and are compliant with all procedures in the Team Member Handbook 

• Ensure all staff are aware of their duties and what is expected of them, teaching new staff skills they require to perform their roles to the required standard and taking the necessary action where expectations are not met 

• Ensure that any temporary staff have completed the company induction process
