We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic School Chef to join our team alocated in Yorkshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality, nutritious meals to our students and staff. This role requires a passion for cooking, a commitment to maintaining high standards of food hygiene, and the ability to create a welcoming dining environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Meal Preparation & Cooking: Plan, prepare, and cook a variety of balanced and healthy meals in line with dietary guidelines and school standards, catering to diverse dietary needs including allergies and special dietary requirements.
- Food Safety & Hygiene: Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and maintain the highest standards of kitchen cleanliness and hygiene. Conduct regular checks and record-keeping as required by law.
- Stock Management: Manage kitchen inventory, including ordering ingredients and supplies, controlling stock levels, and minimizing waste through efficient kitchen practices.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all meals are prepared in accordance with school policies, health, and safety guidelines, and adhere to any specific dietary needs of students and staff.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience as a chef or cook, preferably in a school, childcare, or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene standards.
- Experience in menu planning and catering for large groups with diverse dietary needs.
- Ability to manage stock and budget effectively.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a small team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Essential Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS Check: The successful candidate must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, as this role involves working closely with children and young people.
