Canteen General Manager - Catering & Front of House

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 07:00–15:00 (occasional additional hours for events)

Occasional events may require flexibility outside these hours. Working hours may vary depending on operational requirement.

About the role:

We is looking for an enthusiastic, organised and experienced Canteen Manager / Front of House Manager to oversee the daily operation of its catering and front-of-house services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a welcoming, efficient and high-quality service for students, staff and visitors, while maintaining excellent food hygiene, health and safety and customer service standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with catering or hospitality management experience who enjoys leading a team in a busy educational environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Oversee the day-to-day running of the canteen and front-of-house operations.

• Supervise, support and motivate catering and front-of-house staff.

• Ensure a high standard of customer service for students, staff and visitors.

• Coordinate food service and ensure smooth daily operations.

• Monitor stock levels, ordering and deliveries.

• Maintain food hygiene, cleanliness and health and safety standards.

• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and college policies.

• Manage occasional college functions, meetings and special events.

• Organise staffing and service arrangements to meet operational requirements.

• Deal professionally with customer enquiries and resolve any service issues.

Essential requirements:

• Previous experience in catering, hospitality or front-of-house management.

• Experience supervising or managing a team.

• Good organisational and communication skills.

• Excellent customer service skills.

• Knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety requirements.

• Ability to work independently and use initiative.

• Flexible approach to occasional events and additional working hours.

• A positive, professional and hands-on approach
