Job Title: General Manager (Stadium Operations)
Location: Durham
Pay: £20–£24 per hour (dependent on experience)
Contract: Temporary (with potential to become permanent ~£50,000 per annum)
We are seeking an experienced and driven General Manager to lead operations at a busy stadium venue in Durham. This is an exciting opportunity to take charge of a dynamic site hosting both match days and a wide range of conferences and events.
The Role:
As General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall day-to-day running of the stadium, ensuring exceptional service delivery across all areas. You will lead and inspire a core team of 12 full-time staff, alongside a larger pool of casual workers to support high-volume match days and events.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong organisational skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple revenue streams in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all stadium operations, including match days, conferences, and private events
Lead, manage, and develop a team of 12 full-time staff plus casual workforce
Ensure high standards of customer service and guest experience at all times
Plan and execute large-scale event operations efficiently and safely
Manage budgets, costs, and operational performance
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver successful events
Maintain compliance with health & safety and licensing regulations
About You:
Proven experience in a similar stadium, arena, or large-scale venue OR strong hospitality leadership experience in high-volume environments
Confident leader with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams
Highly organised with excellent problem-solving skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, event-driven environment
Flexible and available to work evenings, weekends, and match days as required
