Event Manager – Enlightenment Light Show (Edinburgh)

Schedule: ~5 days per week, typically 4pm–9pm
Pay: £17ph
Role Overview
We’re looking for a proactive, organised, and tech-comfortable Event Supervisor to help deliver the Enlightenment Light Show experience in Edinburgh.
You’ll be the on-site lead during opening hours—welcoming guests, keeping the show running smoothly, supporting staff, and ensuring every visitor enjoys a seamless and magical experience.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with the public, thinks quickly on their feet, and can manage both people and technology with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
🔧 Technical & Operational Support
Open and close the experience each day, ensuring the light show equipment and venue areas are fully prepared.
Monitor hardware, lighting, and projection systems throughout the shift and resolve minor technical issues.
Complete pre-show checks and escalate issues to technical support when required.
Maintain stock (e.g., cleaning supplies, ticketing materials) and uphold hygiene standards.
Keep basic documentation and checklists accurate and up to date.
🏛 Venue & Guest Operations
Ensure the space is safe, tidy, and ready for visitors at all times.
Manage guest flow, timed entry, queues, and accessibility requirements.
Coordinate cleaning and report any maintenance needs.
👥 Team Coordination
Support and supervise front-of-house staff during show hours.
Lead short shift briefings and ensure everyone understands roles, timings, and priorities.
Train or guide new or temporary staff in daily procedures and guest service expectations.
Maintain a positive, calm tone and lead by example during busy periods.
🛡 Health & Safety
Carry out daily safety checks and ensure all protocols are followed.
Act as first response for incidents, technical hiccups, or customer concerns.
Log accidents, guest issues, and near-misses as required.
📣 Customer Experience
Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
Handle escalated questions or complaints professionally and empathetically.
Gather and share guest feedback to help improve the experience.
📝 Communication & Reporting
Provide daily shift notes and handovers to the wider management team.
Track attendance, ticketing notes, incidents, and operational highlights.
